Teatro Nagual presented “IN THE TIME OF THE BUTTERFLIES” at the Coloma Community Center from Apr 11 – May 4.
The play is written by Caridad Svich, produced & directed by Richard Falcõn.


This play was originally commissioned by Repertorio Espanol/Spanish Repertory Theatre in New York City. Rebe Buch, Artistic Director. The author’s Spanish-language version of this test premiered at Repertorio Espanol in February 2011 under Jose Zayas’ direction.


“IN THE TIME OF THE BUTTERFLIES” is produced by special arrangement with the Playwright and Eleaine Devlin Literary, Inc., 20 West 23rd Street, 3rd Floor,Ney York, NY 10010, and with permission from Susan Bergholz Literary Services, 17 West 10th Street, #5, New York, NY 10011 


Based on Julia Álvarez’s popular novel, “In The Time of the Butterflies,” is a fictionalized account of the story of the courageous Mirabal sisters from the Dominican Republic. The sisters inspired resistance cells throughout the country against the dictatorial regime of Gen. Rafael Leónidas Trujillo. The ‘butterflies’, their secret code name, were brutally murdered by the regime in 1960.
