Teatro Nagual is proud to present “IN THE TIME OF THE BUTTERFLIES” at the Coloma Community Center from Apr 4 – May 4. The play is written by Caridad Svich, produced & directed by Richard Falcõn.
This play was originally commissioned by Repertorio Espanol/Spanish Repertory Theatre in New York City. Rebe Buch, Artistic Director. The author’s Spanish-language version of this test premiered at Repertorio Espanol in February 2011 under Jose Zayas’ direction.

Based on Julia Álvarez’s popular novel, “In The Time of the Butterflies,” is a fictionalized account of the story of the courageous Mirabal sisters from the Dominican Republic. The sisters inspired resistance cells throughout the country against the dictatorial regime of Gen. Rafael Leónidas Trujillo. The ‘butterflies’, their secret code name, were brutally murdered by the regime in 1960.
Cast: Irene Velasquez, Lyra Dominguez, Gladys Imperio-Acosta, Jasmine Nunez-Gonzalez, Catalina Serrano, Ruben Oriol Rivera. Ron Reisner designed the set and Mary Goodall is the stage manager.
The performances will be Apr 4, 5, 11, 18, 19, 25, 26, May 2 & 3 at 8 PM. Sunday performances Apr 13, 20, 27, May 4 at 2 PM. Special Sunday night Apr 6 performance at 7 PM. Special Saturday Apr 12 performance at 2PM. Location is the Coloma Community Center,4623 T St., Sacramento, CA.
